“ I was passing through on a long drive and couldn't go further unless I had some food. I did a quick search on Yelp and pulled into downtown San Angelo and walked into the Angry Cactus. It was pretty quiet - with maybe 3 tables occupied but decided to sit at the bar anyway. I had no intention of drinking but when I saw the oversized Cactus tap topper I had to ask and the bartender mentioned it was for their house beer. The beer was decent-definitely something to write about but the tap topper was definitely more memorable. I started with the bacon wrapped quail and for the price I was surprised at how small it was-it was tasty but hard to judge the flavor in the 3 bites it took me to finish. The bartender recommended the meatloaf and it was definitely hefty-the sauce on it was a little too sweet for me but was still enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable stop with enough kitschy ambiance and art to make a good date place. ”
“ Excellent food - especially that Mac & Cheese entree! This is a fun, buzzy stop with great service, a fun vibe, a great drink selection and excellent food. ”
“ Great service, super cute place would be great for a date or just grab a bite with friends and family we were a little disappointed in the food it was good not great but good ”
“ Certainly superior food and presentation in every aspect. Friendly attentive staff. Excellent local beer. Possibly the most savory burrito I've been served anywhere. ”
“ This restaurant is in downtown and is a great option for some good food and big portions! I had the loaded Mac & cheese which had bacon and was sooo flavorful. I loved every single bite, it doesn't look big in the picture but I got 2 meals out of it. The waitress was kind and the ambiance was cool with good music playing. I look forward to coming back to try other dishes! ”
“ $3 tap beer Tuesday is great. Taco salad with Salmon-was a pour choice on my part! Great atmosphere though! San Angelo offer a great River walk and multiple galleries of street art all over town! Cool destination ”
“ If you are overnighting in San Angelo, this is an excellent choice for drinks and dinner. They have an excellent selection of draft beers. It gets five stars plus for ambiance--worth seeing even if you don't want to dine here. The bread is good, so the rest of it must be good. They have some house-made salad dressings. ”
“ This is my favorite restaurant I've found in San Angelo. I've been here twice, and the food has been amazing both times. The food is classic, yet it has a modern twist. The flavors are bold and complimentary. I have had nothing I didn't like here, and there are so many things on the menu that I want to try. Most recently, antelope was a special. I was impressed with it. It was a great meat and prepared wonderfully. The first time I came, I had the lamb. When I am in San Angelo for work, I check out to see what the specials are. I don't come all the time because it is a special meal, but if something sounds amazing, like antelope, I'll drop for a meal. Their bread and olive oil, also very addictive. ”
“ WOW! First off, this was hands down the BEST steak I've ever had! We sat at the bar and the service was friendly, talkative and amazing! I always love when they refill my drinks without hesitation. My husband and I both were asked multiple times if we wanted more drinks. We got the skillet nachos as an appetizer and they were super yummy! Nice and crispy with all the good toppings. It's such a cool place with tons of low lights and a metallic country feel. There's easy parking all around, right downtown in San Angelo. The angry cactus outside makes it come across as a silly bar scene, but it was pretty fancy! Only reason I gave four stars instead of five was they had this amazing snoop dog cook book for $40 but the book is worth $25... that I felt was not cool. But I'll definitely be dreaming about that steak and would visit again. If you're in town, don't hesitate to check this place out!!! ”
